St. Matthews Vision Center is an independent optical that has been locally owned and operated since 1952. We provide high-quality optical services at reasonable prices.

We offer eye exams from our independent doctor of optometry, prescription eyeglasses, and contact lenses.
We accept most vision insurance plans and outside prescriptions as well. Many of our loyal customers are referred to us by Louisville's leading ophthalmologists.

St Matthews Vision Center is owned and operated by John Gardner, a second generation optician, since 1989. He is the successor of two other local businesses as well...

SMVC merged with Lenz Optical in 2012, followed by a merger with Middletown Opticians in 2015.
Our optical team is very experienced, with team members ranging from 37 to 55+ years tenure in the business.
We combine advanced knowledge of the latest ophthalmic lens and frame technologies, with the kind of savvy that only comes from decades of patient care.
We are organized to promptly take care of your child's eyeglass prescription, often with delivery on the same day or the next day (Limited to single vision polycarbonate with a very wide power range in stock).

We maintain a large selection of frames for adults and children.

We are an authorized distributor for Ray-Ban (Prescription and sun) frames. We also feature Silhouette Eyewear, Elle, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Wiley X, and many more!
Because we edge and mount lenses for most frames on-site, we can often fit prescription lenses into your own frame (However, we need to inspect your frame first).
